Collapsible Disk Reflectors
I am happy to report that my 5 in 1 Collapsible Disk Reflectors I purchased from Ebay for .99 + shipping from China made it to my snappy little fingers! I was so excited that I borrowed some neighborhood kids to model. I had my assistant helping with the positioning. That was somewhat of a challenge to locate sun then angle just right without the wind picking her up. Actually if you were driving by you might have laughed.
Whats a collapsible disk reflector and do you need it to take good pictures?
ReplyDeleteJill do you remember the window screens you would put in the front window of cars? They usually are silver and you could bend them in a figure 8 to collasp. With the same idea the reflector can be portable and bend down to pack up for shoots. They come in white, black, sliver, gold and sheer. Each has a different effect to help give you the best light. Have you taken a picture outside with full sun in your models eyes? Not only do they make funny faces but you get shadows under eyes and noses. These can help block or tone down the sun. Do you need one to take pictures no not really you can look for indirect (under a tree) to help. If you do want one I got mine off ebay. Be careful though mine came from China and took a longer shipping. All was good!

ReplyDeleteSilver - Increases the secular highlights and contrast of images and is perfect for video, product, and Black and white photography.
· Gold - Produces a natural golden fill that works great with sunsets, product photography (e.g. jewelry), as well as indoor portraits.
· Pearl - Produces an even, neutral-colored bounce light that works extremely well as a fill light for both product photography as well as portraiture.
· Translucent fabric - Used to diffuse light and create a broad light source that is both soft yet wraps around the subject.
· Black - Absorbs Light
